What You Should Know Before You Hire A Face Painter In New York:

face paints are made using cosmetic grade ingredients,
purposely formulated with safety in mind 1st. You should be
careful about what products are being used by non
professional face painters that do not really care about

paints and the ingredients used in them, have been
tested for allergic
reactions.
Craft paints and other "non-toxic" colorants (washable markers; watercolor pencils, markers, or paints; Sharpie permanent markers and the like) are not intended for use on skin. Many contain ingredients that can cause allergic reactions, such as rashes and itching. Others (washable markers and Sharpie markers in particular) are very difficult to remove. Cosmetic glitter is intended to be used on people; craft glitter is NOT. It is made of polyester, is .008mm or less in diameter, and is cut in a hexagonal shape. These qualities make it safer for use on skin than craft glitter because it isn't made of metal and doesn't have sharp edges. “Non-Toxic” does not mean “safe for skin.” Acrylic craft paints are not meant to be used on the skin – nor are watercolor markers or pencils. Just because the package says "non-toxic" does not mean that it is safe to put on skin. For those seeking ny face painting for some kids events, nyc street fairs many people are allergic to the non-FDA approved chemicals and colorants used in craft paints (such as nickel), and will break out in a rash from these paints. Watercolor markers (or "washable markers") do not remove from skin easily – it can take days to get the stain removed. The "washable" part of the name refers to fabric, not skin. There are many brands of safe face paint readily available ( Snazaroo, Mehron, Kryolan, etccc, for example) and they are not more expensive than craft paints since a little bit goes a very long way! Metallic craft glitter should not be used for face painting. The only safe glitters for face painting are made of polyester, and should be .008 microns in size or smaller.
